what i listen to is private

I don’t like other people knowing what I’m listening to. That goes for music, podcasts, audio messages, really anything. Audio seems… like it should be more private?

I’ve touched on this topic recently on my post about why I’m stopping scrobbling, but it bears a little elaboration.

music

With music I’m a little more lenient on this front. I do listen to music with speakers frequently, and while I’ll usually put on headphones if anyone else is present, with certain genres and artists I am willing to listen out loud.

When listening to anything I haven’t listened to before, though? No, that’s almost always with headphones. And I don’t think my roommate has probably ever heard more than brief snatches of my music before I put on my headphones.

podcasts

I don’t think I’ve ever listened to podcasts out loud. Always with headphones. And I rarely tell people what podcasts I listen to.

video

Not quite the same category, but if I ever watch videos I usually do it with headphones, I think for the same root reason of not wanting people to hear what I’m hearing for my private entertainment.

audio messages

Don’t send me audio messages. I almost definitely won’t listen to them. Headphones or no. I don’t know why I dislike them so much.

conclusion

Hm, this was a pretty disjointed blost huh? Oh, well. See you next time.
