Highlight of the week: This week marked the first work week of my year as a full-time writer!
things I did
- I set up a writerdeck on a decade-old laptop using novelWriter as the writing software.
- I made progress on the coding for my upcoming publishing project and signed on an author to be part of it.
- Re-configured my email system only to check my inbox every minute during work hours; outside of those times, it now only checks once per hour.
- I decided on a budget for my discretionary spending in 2026.
- Set up my site so I can write these weeknotes and made an aggregated feed for everything I post on my blog: https://benjaminhollon.com/feed/
things I read
I just finished reading As on a Darkling Plain by Ben Bova, which I enjoyed! I have another book by him, Triumph, which I may read soon, though I’ll probably work a bit through my e-book backlog first.
things I listened to
There’s not enough space for everything I listen to in a week, but here are some highlights:
- Open City by Michael Davis
- Pyre: Original Soundtrack by Darren Korb
- The Offbeat of Avenues by The Manhattan Transfer
- Bang! Zoom by Bobby McFerrin
- Antidote by Chick Corea
- Burning the Daze by Marc Cohn
- Les Misérables: In Concert at the Royal Albert with the 1995 10th Anniversary concert cast
- The Soul Cages by Sting
